Domain registrar GoDaddy has launched the GoDaddy Developer Platform, a new offering built for a world where AI coding assistants and automated workflows are increasingly doing the work of getting a business online.
The problem GoDaddy is targeting is a familiar one for developers: AI coding tools can already spin up websites and applications in minutes, but registering and configuring the domain that goes with them still means stepping out of the code editor, opening a browser, and clicking through a registrar’s website by hand.
The new platform folds that entire process — domain search, purchase, DNS configuration and management — into the tools developers already work in, including terminals, coding assistants and AI chat interfaces.

“AI is fundamentally changing how software is created, and the infrastructure behind the internet has to evolve with it,” said Travis Muhlestein, GoDaddy’s chief technology officer of product AI.
“Our Developer Platform now connects GoDaddy domain services directly into developer tools, giving our customers, whether they have one domain or thousands, the ability to complete the entire domain lifecycle. The result is faster domain search, purchase and configuration — going from idea to a live online presence in minutes.”
What’s in the platform
GoDaddy says the release is built as much for AI agents as for the humans directing them, with five core pieces:
New domain APIs — programmatic access to domain search and name suggestions, availability, account-specific pricing, purchase, DNS configuration and domain management, all through a single platform.
Modern authentication — scoped OAuth tokens that let developers grant AI agents precisely the access they need, and nothing more.
Agent-safe execution — built-in scoped permissions, explicit price confirmation before any purchase, and confirmation flows for irreversible actions, so buying authority stays with the developer or account owner.
A new command-line interface (CLI) — brings the full platform into the terminal, designed for developers and the AI coding agents that increasingly work alongside them.
A rebuilt developer portal — with LLM-optimized documentation, CLI downloads and guided onboarding meant to take a developer from sign-up to a successful API call in minutes.
That last point is a small but telling detail: GoDaddy is explicitly optimizing its documentation for large language models to read, not just human developers — an acknowledgment that AI agents are now a primary ‘user’ of developer platforms in their own right.
Beyond individual developers
While the initial launch centers on the end-to-end domain lifecycle, GoDaddy is positioning the platform as the foundation for anyone managing domains at scale — individual developers, web designers, agencies, domain investors and resellers who build on behalf of clients or automate repetitive work.
“GoDaddy’s Developer Platform is built for the next generation of builders,” Muhlestein said.
The company said future phases may extend the platform into investor workflows, aftermarket APIs, automated domain repair, bulk operations, reseller tooling and additional GoDaddy product APIs — suggesting this launch is a first step rather than a finished product.
Availability
The GoDaddy Developer Platform is free and available now to users globally. Existing customers on GoDaddy’s legacy APIs can continue using them without disruption, with the option to switch to the new beta at any time.
