As I wrote about months back about the release of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ the movie I really waited for and guess what now the wait seems to be over as we see the release on the 12th of July 2013. Can you hear my heart beat with excitement!

The man himself called ‘Farhan Akhtar’ finally comes on the big screen. Yes he is the man who talks with his eyes and speaks from the gut of his stomach with a never heard before baritone is totally to die for. Okay he is not looking very handsome in this avatar but he still is too good.

Well, after Benares in ‘Raanjhanaa’ and Kolkata in ‘Lootera’, the film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ takes us to the bright sunny fields of beautiful Punjab. The life span of the ace Milkha Singh is what the movie is all about as you must have guessed by now.

Now the question remains is there any chemistry between ‘Sonam Kapoor’ the female lead in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ with ‘Farhan Akhtar’ who plays the male lead? As they romance in the fields I was wondering what did they do to Sonam’s height? Isn’t she taller than Farhan? But what the heck he is still too good!!! Looks like Sonam is now stereo typed into a village belle or what!

The film is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra who tells us that the movie is about the triumph of the human spirit. The script is by Prasoon Joshi and he says that the film is not a mirror of the life of Milkha Singh but an interpretation of his life. The cast includes Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Yograj Singh, Hikaru Ito and Prakash Raj.

The music by Shanker-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. A few songs are doing very well like, ‘Zinda hai to pyala bhar le’, and ‘Maston ka Jhund’ and there are others which are not much heard of like ‘Mere Yaar’ a sweet romantic number and ‘Slow Motion Angreza’ a fun loving fast number which makes your feet tap. And then they have the intense ones like, ‘Mendha Yaar’ and ‘O Rangreza’ is soulfully beautiful.

Well as I wait for another week to go I wish the team all the best. Let’s see how the movie shapes up eventually. Does Farhan take the film solely on his shoulders and excels in this genre?

And once again as I look at the trailor … I sigh and take a deep breath first as I see Farhan Akhtar in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ and he emerges in a roaring stadium … I hear the strong and powerful music at the background …. ” zinda hai toh pyala poora bhar le… ” and I let out a sigh…! OMG.
